Styled Shoot – Shoots Across America | Goodwin Manor

Jenni Goodwin + Aaron Owen | Bentonville, AR Wedding

Yesterday I had prepared myself on the drive up to Bentonville that it would be a rainy day with many obstacles because of the weather. I was so wrong. The sky cleared up and the Lord blessed us with some of the most beautiful overcastl lighting that I could have hoped for.

I wouldn’t have been able to pull off this day without a team of amazing vendors by my side; the real MVP was Jessika McCuin. She was my go-to woman all day long, I could work every single wedding weekend with this girl. Thank you for being so helpful and having such a positive energy, I sincerely appreciate you! And Tanarah Haynie and her team, as always, did a PHENOMENAL job.

Jenni Goodwin and Aaron Owen, you both are such a joy to be around and I was honored to be your wedding photographer. I have genuinely enjoyed getting to know you both even better than I did from our college days, and I loved getting to met your families. From your dad’s precious reaction at your father-daughter first look; to your Grandpa Ben (so cute!) – they were all so sincere and kind. Lastly, it was so great to see so many of our mutual friends at your reception – I left NWA to drive home last night with a full heart and so excited about the beautiful day that I was expecting to to be a monsoon. So thankful the weather surprised us all!

Tracie French + Nathan Cash | Goodwin Manor Wedding | Little Rock, AR

Tracie & Nathan’s day was one I will never forget. It was windy, I mean, REALLY windy – but despite the wind, it was beautiful and perfect. At the end of the day – they are just as married as a couple that gets married with perfect weather. I think sometimes we get so wrapped up in everything being perfect or not going the way we thought it would – you lose sight of what really matters; but they stayed calm and relaxed the entire time.

I think the weather was the perfect metaphor for the start of a marriage. You think you have all of these plans and many of them will happen just the way you hope; but life does throw curveballs sometimes and you just have to go with the flow when these unexpected moments change your course. Tracie and Nathan did just that – went with the flow and chose to be happy even with the crazy weather! After-all, they had an amazing team behind the scenes working to keep everything running smoothly; Andrea Goodwin and Anne-Claire worked their magic to make sure everything was taken care of! So thankful for this team!

Allyson McNabb + Chris Jensen | Little Rock, AR Wedding

Allyson and Chris booked us without meeting us, since they live in Idaho! We are so thankful that they fell in love with our work over the internet! & When we finally got to meet Ally  for the first time at her bridal session, we fell in love with her! She is beautiful, but more importantly, very kind and sincere. We had the pleasure of meeting Chris on the day of their wedding, it was such an amazing day!

She and Chris had such a beautiful July wedding at Cold Springs. Their florals, by Tanarah Luxe Floral, were stunning! Her dress from Inverness in Conway was gorgeous & her team of vendors she chose really are some of my very favorites!

Ally had all of her little details laid out for us when we arrived the day of; she had the cutest ring box and a beautiful antique mirror – swoon!

We are so thankful they chose us to photograph this special moment in their lives, it was very special for us too! Thank you for trusting us to capture such an important day! We have loved getting to know you both along the way!

Jenni + Aaron | Little Rock, AR Bridals

Jenni and Aaron will celebrate their wedding with friends and family next month in Northwest Arkansas; and I have been so in love with their session since I photographed it a few months ago. We all met at UCA and were all on Student Orientation Staff (SOS) together! & Jenni has been a bridesmaid in at least one of our other client’s weddings (maybe more)! So when they e-mailed us saying we were their choice for photography, we were so excited to now photograph their wedding and to get to know them even better!

Their session was so dreamy with the perfect sunset over the city in Little Rock. & The photo they chose for their save-the-date is my absolute favorite from the session, too. It is the photo that I chose today as their feature photo for this blog post. In my opinion this session truly couldn’t have gone any more smoothly, I love it so much! And huge bonus points for including their sweet pup, Harper!!!  Cheers you two, excited that your session our first engagement session to blog in the new year! We are almost to wedding time! See you both SOON! <3

Alexa Johnson | Little Rock, AR Bridals

Alexa was one of my favorite brides of all time. She is so incredibly kind and has such a heart for others. She and Dwayne celebrated with hundreds of their family and friends in October and their wedding was such a fun time from start to finish! I am thrilled to share some of Alexa’s bridals with you all today on this chilly Sunday! I am dreaming of the warm weather from their wedding day already! Thank you so much for being such an amazing client!

Leah Yeager + Payne Harding | Little Rock, AR Wedding

Leah & Payne found us through a mutual friend and I am so thankful they did, because working with this pair was a blast! They celebrated with friends and family on April 22nd at their family farm in Little Rock. The ceremony was intimate with mostly family and a few friends; afterwards they celebrated with a large party later that eventing with more guests! The venue, a house located on the property was the perfect setting – there was even a wine-seller underground that led to the reception entrance – so fun!

As you may notice from the photos, it rained literally almost all day long! I was able to snap a few shots of the outdoor reception area before the rain really hit and from there on I prayed it would let up, but it was a constant sprinkle for hours. So we made the best of it and brought out a cute umbrella and made use of the gorgeous front porch – those portraits are some of my favorites of the day!

Payne is the head chef and owner of Cache’ in Little Rock, the restaurant is actually how he and Leah met – for a short time Leah worked at the restaurant.

With Payne’s background in food – you can imagine how wonderful their reception food was. The food was delicious and endless – gourmet cheese, meats, sushi, stir-fry and more. This was some of the best wedding food I have ever eaten y’all!

Their reception lasted late into the night and it was truly a party! Their band, who is from Florida – was so awesome! They broke out the masks (haha, you’ll see what I am talking about below) and they had such a fun time! There was so much love at the reception, you can tell how much L&P really love their friends and family; and vice versa — there was so much laughter and hugs! So sweet to look back through these and share them on the blog today!

Emily + James Snow | Bentonville, AR Wedding

When two strangers from different parts of the country signed up to work for a program in Boston for at risk high school students, they didn’t expect to find their soulmate; but like many love stories – Emily and James found love in an unexpected way. After a year with AmeriCorps, the pair were the only two in their program to give it a go for a second year in a row.

Emily says:

“Working so closely together really helped us to know that we had found something special. At the end of the second year in Boston, I moved to Nashville to teach Special Education there, and James told me that he wanted to come with me. I will always remember him telling me that; it was right after a concert that he went with me to (one of my very favorites), and I was ecstatic but didn’t want him to feel like I was pressuring him. I never told him this, but that was when I knew deep down that we would get married one day.”

These two were so in love and it showed from the very first time we met them during their engagements in Kansas City – where they both live now. It was freezing, but they made the best of it and we had a great time getting to know them. We will forever think of them when we think of Kansas City! Fast forward to their wedding.

I love something about every wedding we photograph. But with Emily and James, I loved every single part (seriously) it was planned so well from top to bottom, inside and out. It was intimate yet still a good size; held in the backyard of her family home. It was wonderful. We thought it might rain (Thank you mother nature for preventing that!) but it was clear all day long, allowing us to capture every little detail without having to worry about the weather. Emily credits most of the success of the wedding to her mom, which I am sure is where her amazing planning skills come from. I was so blessed to have such an organized bride – she was always so prompt and helpful when I asked her questions.

Emily: “Planning our wedding was all about the help of family and friends. Outside of the week-of when we almost had to move the wedding inside for extreme weather, with the help of my family and friends it really wasn’t stressful for James and I at all. I’m a details person (it was actually very relaxing for me to make a spreadsheet Cue-to-Cue of everything happening on the day of) and my mom is a vision person. More than anything else, it was a bonding experience for us, we make a great team! My mom handmade so many perfect little details- the beautiful signs with the white script, the tassels on the garland, even the pew markers! There was nothing that I could dream up that she couldn’t make happen. And what she didn’t make or find, someone else did! Almost every detail and decoration was touched by the love of our families and my community (I lived in Bentonville from preschool through graduating from BHS). One of my bridesmaids families that we’ve known forever just happened to have an ice cream truck that they lent us for the day! It really was such a humbling and loving experience to have so many people who wanted to help make our day perfect. And it really was.”

Emily and her mom really thought of it all. The macarons were the best I have had in my life (no exaggeration here!), the ice cream truck, the mustang, the greenhouse where we did portraits after, the “snow” that the guests threw at the exit, the lotion they gave out as favors (Fresh Sparkling Snow scented from Bath & BodyWorks), the giftbags for out-of-towners with a ‘Bentonville’ theme and ideas for tourists; and so many other sweet details. The ceremony had everyone in the crowd (including me) tearing up, it was so genuine and romantically sweet.

Emily: “Having so many handmade and borrowed elements really made our wedding very affordable without having to make many hard choices in terms of money. Between my mom working on the wedding basically full-time on top of our hired wedding planner, we had a team assembled around us and it really brought costs down. Our planner I felt was very affordable, but I would definitely say that every single bride should have one. At the very least, a day-of planner, who you feel truly understands your entire vision. It really took away the stress from me and my mom on the day of to know that we could leave the last minute decisions to someone we trusted. Other splurges for us were a great photographer (which I would also recommend to every bride–it’s so easy to forget many of the details of your wedding, and the pictures will remind you of everything you forget!), pampering/beauty for us and the wedding party (we are firm believers that we need to pamper our people), and lots of flowers to really emphasize the garden party feel! We also wanted to locally source as many of our foods in particular as possible, so that was an important investment as well.”

Cheers to one of my favorite weddings of all time! Love this couple to the moon!

Mary Kate + Colton | Little Rock, AR Engagements

Mary Kate and Colton chose Little Rock as the backdrop for their engagements – and it couldn’t have been a more perfect setting for this fashionista! Mary Kate is a fashion blogger! How fun right?! And I found out that Colton is usually her photographer! So they’re very familiar with how photoshoots go! I don’t need to say this but they were NATURALS! So comfortable in front of the camera and so sweet and intentional with their interaction with one another. They took all of my ideas and just ran with them – bringing each pose to life perfectly in their own unique way! And lets just talk about that sunset – no exaggeration – it is the prettiest one I have photographed at the end of an engagement session. We can’t wait to hang out wit them more!

Taylor Ross Bridals | Conway, AR

Taylor & Dan celebrated their wedding this past Friday and it was everything! So much fun from the start all the way to the end! Her bridesmaids were the biggest help, always trying to make sure they were in the right place and helping coordinate everyone for us during family photos – they were awesome!

We have done several of Taylor’s relative’s weddings and her friend’s weddings from St. Joe! We had 9 brides & grooms in attendance (future and past); so it was like a big reunion for Jaison and I — it was so great to see all of them and catch up!

I absolutely loved working with Taylor every step of the way, from engagements and bridals down to the wedding day – she was a dream bride! Thank you so much for choosing us to capture your wedding journey! We didn’t have to wait long to share these bridals, because we just took them about 2 weeks ago today to be exact – I always love getting to share them right away! Keep a lookout for Dan and Tay’s wedding coming up on the blog later this summer!

Mary Catherine Rogers King | Little Rock, AR Bridals

On July 1st we traveled a little over nine hours to Kingsport, Tennessee for a beautiful wedding. Mary Catherine and Grant celebrated with family and friends in the Tri Cities area and it was fabulous – those photos are coming soon!

Today we are thrilled to share her bridals – that we took at home in Little Rock, Arkansas at Goodwin Manor (one of our favorite venues)!

Mary Catherine lives in Memphis so when her mom and I started talking about locations for her bridals – I knew Goodwin Manor would be the perfect place. The Goodwin’s are always amazing to work with, and this time was no exception! We can’t wait to share more from their beautiful day!

One of our favorite details from her session is the back of her FABULOUS dress. It is one of the most beautifully detailed dresses we have seen. Classic yet modern. We also are pretty in love with her blue wedding shoes that she borrowed from her sister as her “something blue/something borrowed”!

I have known MC a long time, since high school (and then we both attended college at UCA)! I first met her through a mutual friend – Casey; and  I always thought she was absolutely precious. When she contacted us about her wedding – we were praying she would book us! This also meant a trip for me to see my parents, who live only 1 hour from Kingsport. We stayed through the 4th of July and it was an amazing trip! We love East Tennessee; everyone is unbelievably friendly!

Congrats MC! We love you!

Tiffany + Brandon | Little Rock, AR Engagements

Tiffany and Brandon recently tied the knot in the Dominican and we thought it would be the perfect time to post their sweet engagement photos! We have had so many compliments on these photos from the previews we posted on Facebook and instagram , but the truth is – they made our job easy! They were so easy to photograph and this session gives us all the feels! We absolutely loved shooting these for these recent newlyweds! <3

Lauren Morris | Conway, AR Bridals

I have been patiently waiting to post these for over a month! Since Lauren and Heath’s wedding was this past weekend – I am finally allowed to share! Lauren in stunningly beautiful; but my favorite part about her is her heart for others.

She often reminds me of a younger version of myself; with wayyyyy better basketball skills (not even kidding!) I loved getting to meet her family and friends this past weekend at her home church in Cabot, (where the wedding was held).

She and Heath have been dating since high school and I loved getting to know her through Alpha Tau at UCA, I got to be a mentor to her during her time as Alpha Tau’s president. SO thankful for this chance that I have had to grow closer in my relationship with her through her wedding journey! I can’t wait for her wedding photos to be ready; Lauren, Haeth and their entire bridal party looked so stunning! So excited that your new journey with Heath has officially started! Happy honey-mooning this week!

Regan + Cory | Little Rock, AR Engagements

We are throwing it back to Regan + Cory’s Little Rock engagement session because they celebrated their WEDDING DAY this past Saturday and it was AMAZING! These two are so much fun and just the kindest, most complimentary couple! Regan constantly told us how thankful she was, which really meant so much to us. They both really made our job super fun and we have loved getting to call them our clients! Wedding photos coming soon but these may tide you over for just a bit! <3

Savannah + Matt Boyce | Little Rock, AR Wedding

Savannah and Matt were one of the first couples to get married in the newly remodeled Robinson Center in Little Rock; and this wedding was for sure one for the books! Their April wedding was so much fun!

We officially met Savannah & her mom  through CrossFit Align in NLR, where we all workout together. But, we have known the Harrington family as a whole for a while; dating back to our high school roots when Jaison and I went to school with Savannah’s older brother – Danny. We also photographed her sister Maddie, at football games when she was a NLRHS cheerleader; (and her cousin’s own the gym I was talking about; so we have lots of ties to this sweet family!)

It was really fun getting to know these two even better through the entire wedding process. From engagements, to bridals and then the wedding day – they were nothing but amazing to work with!

They both are tap dancers so their ‘first dance’ was of course an AWESOME tap number! We especially loved Savannah’s custom bedazzled tap wedding shoes! (all the heart eyes)! And her dress was literally one of a kind, designed by the fabulous Laine Berry of Inverness in Conway.

If you can’t tell they were in pure wedding bliss all day long and celebrated with friends and family at an amazing reception! Thank you so much for choosing us as your wedding photographers, we love you both (and your family) to the moon! So thankful our friendship will continue through CrossFit! <3

Summer Styled Shoot | Jamestown Ranch, Arkansas

Happy Sunday! When we get to collaborate with other vendors, it is our favorite thing! This team was so great; we highly recommend each and every one of them. We got together and created a styled shoot with Rebecca and Jacob, one of our favorite couples! They got married in 2015 and it was so much fun to photograph them again.

Our theme was simple, southern and natural with a touch of boho chic. The dress that the bridal cottage let us use was absolutely gorgeous and Rebecca looked so amazing in it! Sending big hugs to all that collaborated on this shoot with us! Anna Roger’s floral design really came to life and we have received so many compliments on our photos from this set that have included “oh my gosh look at those flowers!” They truly were breathtaking.

Hayley couldn’t have done a better job on Rebecca’s hair and makeup and she is one of my favorite people to work with – this girl is so much fun! Julie’s cake was amazing (as always)! And Finally – last but not least Paul with Sunflower films and the video he created! It was a little odd for Jaison and I to be the IN the shots for a change, but so much fun! We love the way the final product turned out. Brides – if you are considering having a videographer and you’re on the fence — do it! Cut the costs somewhere else (like your alcohol budget) — it will be worth it and you’ll be so happy you did, I promise. Check out the video here! Cheers to an amazing team!
